Message From the Program Director

Sundip N Patel, MDWelcome to the Medical Education Fellowship at Cooper University Hospital! This fellowship is designed for junior faculty seeking individualized mentorship and opportunities to build skills in medical education teaching, scholarship, leadership and curricular development. The fellowship provides dedicated time to develop academic projects, foster collaborations, and hone a specific area of expertise within medical education. The education fellow will have clinical responsibilities, but reduced compared to new faculty hires, in order to provide ample time to develop their educational skill set and help start their career in medical education. The curriculum has been organized into four educational pillars led by expert faculty in their respective domains: Bedside Teaching/Simulation, UME/GME education and administration, Digital Education, and Scholarly Projects/Career Development. The primary focus on each pillar will last three months. An additional longitudinal curriculum would supplement the core four pillars throughout the academic year. Didactics will occur on a biweekly basis on selected topics within medical education. These one-on-one meetings will be supported by specific asynchronous work that each fellow will complete prior to the meetings so that the meetings can focus on real word application of educational theories and learning modules. The fellowship will involve numerous educational opportunities available at both Cooper University Hospital as well as Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.
