MyERAS applications must contain the following information in order for your application to be considered:

  • Common application form via ERAS including curriculum vitae and medical school transcript.
  • Three original letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a dermatologist with whom you have worked.
  • Personal statement describing your training goals and future career plans.
  • ECFMG certification (IMG only).
  • Passing USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 report. USMLE Step 3 report if available. (Trainees must pass Step 3 of the USMLE prior to beginning Dermatology Residency but not in order to apply or match.)

For the 2023-2024 application cycle, Dermatology will only accept applications submitted by September 27, 2023 via myERAS. We will also utilize Program Signaling. Program signaling is an option for an applicant to signal interest in our program through the MyERAS application. With the increased number of signals this year (3 gold, 25 silver), home and away rotation programs are not excluded as they were last year. Regardless of whether you are a CMSRU medical student or if you have completed an in-person away rotation with us, if our program is one of your top 28 programs, please signal us. Similar to last year, we will use signals in making determinations about our interview invite list, but will not use them for ranking. During the upcoming cycle, all applicants who signal our program will receive an in-depth holistic review of their application.

In addition, our program will also participate in the coordinated interview invite release.

Please refer to the APD statement regarding the 2023-2024 Application Cycle for additional information.

Interviews

All interviews for the 2023-2024 interview season will be virtual. Interviews will be conducted from 1:00 to 4:00 pm EST on Friday, December 15, 2023 and Friday, January 12, 2024.

Pre- and post-interview communication guidelines

We follow the guidelines laid out by the Association of Professors of Dermatology and will not consider other informal mechanisms of showing interest including emails from you or an advocate, letters of intent, or thank you notes. Applicants are asked to refrain from contacting programs to express interest or provide application updates prior to interviews, except in truly exceptional circumstances. Questions about the program that are not easily answered by available materials (website, social media, etc.) can be directed to the program.

Post-interview, applicants should not send thank you notes to programs at which they have interviewed. Applicants should not feel pressure to send such messages, and should not be viewed as “uninterested” if they do not send a message.

Programs are encouraged to avoid direct communication with applicants post-interview. Applicants should not equate lack of communication from programs with lack of interest.
