Personal Interests:
My name is Joe Bartolacci and I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am a proud Steelers fan! I lived in Italy for 5 years growing up before moving back to Pittsburgh. After finishing high school, I went to the University of Chicago for undergraduate where I worked in a synthetic chemistry laboratory studying protein engineering. In 2014 I started medical school at Temple University, but took a detour to get my PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh under Stephen Badylak studying skeletal muscle tissue engineering. After finishing medical school, I spent a year in general surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center before coming to Cooper in 2023. I'm interested in hand surgery, peripheral nerve/brachial plexus injuries, and microsurgery. For fun, my wife and I enjoy traveling, hiking and climbing with our two dogs, and homebrewing beer.
