Resident Life and Program Culture
Our Culture
We are a program built on the belief that great training and a great experience are not mutually exclusive. Our residents train hard — and they are supported. Faculty know residents by name. Teaching happens organically, in the reading room and in the IR suite, not just at scheduled conferences. When challenges arise, residents have people to turn to.
The camaraderie within our program is genuine. IR and DR residents train alongside each other for years, building professional relationships and friendships that last well beyond residency. We are proud of the culture we have built, and we are deliberate about preserving and strengthening it.
Wellness & Support
Resident wellbeing is an institutional priority at Cooper. Residents have access to Cooper's comprehensive wellness resources, including mental health support, peer wellness programs, and flexible resources through the GME Wellness program.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Cooper University Health Care and its training programs are committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for trainees, faculty, staff, and patients alike. We believe that diversity of experience, background, and perspective makes our program stronger — and our patient care better. Applications are welcomed and considered without regard to race, sex, gender identity, age, religion, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
Philadelphia & South Jersey
Training at Cooper means living in one of the most dynamic and culturally rich metropolitan regions in the country. Philadelphia offers world-class museums, professional sports, award-winning dining, diverse neighborhoods, and vibrant arts and music scenes. The city is walkable, transit-accessible, and historically rich.
South Jersey offers the best of multiple worlds: the amenities of a major metro area, charming and affordable suburban communities, beaches along the Jersey Shore, outdoor recreation in the Poconos, and a genuinely high quality of life.
