Education
The Psychiatry Residency Program provides a comprehensive, structured didactic curriculum designed to complement clinical training and ensure residents develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required for independent psychiatric practice. Didactic education occurs during protected time each week, allowing residents to participate in educational activities free from clinical responsibilities. These sessions integrate lectures, case conferences, seminars, small-group discussions, and interactive workshops led by faculty and guest experts.
Research & Scholarly Activity
The residency program is committed to fostering a culture of inquiry, innovation, and scholarly engagement. Residents are encouraged to participate in research and scholarly activities that contribute to the advancement of psychiatric knowledge and the improvement of patient care. Through mentorship, protected educational opportunities, and institutional resources, residents gain exposure to the principles of clinical research, quality improvement, and evidence-based medicine.
Community and Patient Care
The residency program serves a diverse and vibrant community, providing residents with the opportunity to care for patients from a wide range of cultural, socioeconomic, and demographic backgrounds. Located in Camden and the surrounding South Jersey region, the program serves an urban and suburban population with varied mental health needs. This environment offers residents valuable exposure to the social determinants of health and the complex factors that influence mental illness and access to care.
