Welcome to the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Residency Program at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and Cooper University Hospital!
In keeping with our residency training goals, Cooper’s Vascular Division focuses on a time-tested program of clinical and academic education, with an emphasis on one-on-one clinical teaching, graduated autonomy, and progressive responsibility. Our teaching faculty includes Board Certified attending surgeons trained in both the traditional Vascular Fellowship and the modern Vascular Residency pathways. Each of our faculty has a unique training background, a unique teaching style, and a unique set of skill sets and strategies, but all share an enthusiastic passion for resident education.
Training excellent Vascular Surgeons requires exposure to the full breadth and depth of the field. Cooper University Health Care is the largest academic medical center and the only Level 1 Trauma Center in southern New Jersey. The Vascular Resident case volume at Cooper is among the highest in the nation. Recent graduates have exceeded the 90th percentile in multiple case categories, including endovascular and open aortic surgery, carotid surgery, and lower extremity revascularizations. Trainees are trained in the use of all available interventional devices and grafts, and have the opportunity to use cutting edge next generation devices through the multiple clinical trials in which the Cooper Vascular Surgery division participates.
Our division also believes strongly in the importance of research. Our residents have an excellent track record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations that are made possible by the rich clinical and analytic research support that Cooper provides.
Our graduating residents have uniformly found themselves thoroughly prepared to enter into whatever practice they choose upon graduation. Graduated residents are now successfully employed in environments ranging from small suburban private practices to tertiary academic center practices.
Despite the extensive clinical and research productivity of our residents, they still find time to enjoy life outside the hospital. The Cooper Vascular Division is committed to residency wellness and life-balance. Life in the Southern New Jersey / Philadelphia area provides amazing food, entertainment, sport, and recreational opportunities. We believe that a happy team is a strong team.
